There are several companies that operate ferry services landing at 3 different ports on Koh Samui. Whether you are arriving from the mainland or heading to a neighbouring island, a ferry, catamaran can be a fun, easy and reasonably priced option for IVL villa guests.

The obvious benefit of taking a ferry is the chance to stand on the deck and feel the sea breeze while enjoying the dramatic views of Koh Samui as you approach the island. Don’t forget to put on your sunscreen!

There are three ferry companies that service Koh Samui. Each of them operates their own pier and has different routes, departure / arrival times and prices. IVL has compiled this article to provide information to make your ferry trip to Koh Samui as easy as possible.

Seatran Ferry

 

A long time favourite of villa guests traveling from the mainland, Seatran ferries arrive at Bangrak Pier on the north east peninsula of Koh Samui, which is an area of high concentration of IVL villas.

Their most popular route is from Surat Thani Airport - Koh Samui , which also includes transport on an air conditioned Seatran bus. The package price is 600 THB per passenger one way and the total travel time is between 4 hours and 5 hours and 15 minutes, depending on the time of day.

The first trip departs from Surat Thani Airport at 6:00 a.m. daily and the last trip from Surat Thani Airport departs at 11:20 a.m.

Guests travelling from Phuket or other locations on the mainland can board the ferry at Donsak Pier for their trip to Koh Samui which takes 1 hour and 30 minutes and costs 300 THB per person.

At select times throughout the year, typically during peak season passengers can book foot massages on board. Simple food and drinks are available though alcohol is restricted.

  • 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • 10:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Donsak to Koh Samui (Bangtrak Pier) - 300 THB per person

  • 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. -4:00 p.m.

Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran

 

Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran

Lomprayah also offers an air conditioned bus and ferry combination and uses a high speed catamaran which reduced the on board time to make the total trip in typically 45 less than other ferry services. The first package trip of the day is at 8:30 a.m. and the last is at 4:00 p.m.

Lomprayah ferries arrive at Nathon Port on the west coast of Koh Samui.

Travelling from Donsak to Koh Samui takes 45 minutes at a cost of 350 to 450 THB.

Snacks and soft drinks are for sale on the ferry but, not alcohol. Cars can not travel on the catamaran.

Raja Ferry

 

Raja FerryRaja Ferry, which arrives at Lipa Noi Pier, is the preferred option for those travelling by car from Phuket or other destinations on the mainland. Offering 15 boats per day, with the first departure at 5:00 a.m. followed by a boat every hour on the hour and the last at 7:30 p.m., Raja is the most regular service.

The travel time from Donsak to Koh Samui is around 1 hour and 30 minutes and the ticket charge is, 130 THB per walk-on passenger and 420 THB for a 4 wheel vehicle including 1 driver .

Light snacks and soft drinks are available for sale.
