Walking streets are a welcome addition to the evening entertainment scene that has popped up in the last couple of years. Parts of the street are closed to vehicular traffic and instead lined with vendors selling crafts, art, food and chilled beverages. Entertainment is provided by local school children and cultural groups. Low key and charming, these kid-friendly events are a great way to spend an evening.
Koh Samui is divided into several small villages with each given one day per week to block its streets for a market to take place, usually starting at 5:00 p.m. Bophut Fisherman’s Village has theirs on Friday. Lamai has one every Sunday, Chaweng on Tuesday, Cheong Mon on Wednesday, Maenam on Thursday and.
