The Ridge is an exclusive luxury development of private pool villas with panoramic sea views located in the prime North East of Koh Samui, just minutes from the island’s most popular beaches and entertainment areas.
It is located near Choeng Mon beach and is made up of a series of bays, on the north-eastern tip of the island, featuring wide, sandy beaches with a selection of beach restaurants and bars offering beautiful night views over the bay. Known for its water sports: swimming, snorkeling, jet-skiing, scuba diving and relaxing are the main activities here. This is a very family-friendly area that doesn't get too busy.
The villa is only 15 minutes by car, to Fisherman’s Village, one of the oldest places on the island, lined with old wooden Chinese shop-houses and a few modern buildings in keeping with the surroundings. The village has a Mediterranean feel about it, owing to the fact that, for many years, it was the main French settlement on the island. Fisherman's Village houses many restaurants, bars, shops and boutiques offering a variety of clothes, Thai souvenirs and trinkets. Every Friday evening it plays host to the local Walking Street Night Market where tourists and locals enjoy browsing through Thai souvenirs, clothes, handmade soaps, coconut-based beauty products and other local delights. A range of Thai and Western foods are available, including Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice and deep fried insects (for those brave enough to sample), as well as 60 baht cocktails.
Chaweng, offering Samui's longest and most popular beach, as well as the largest concentration of restaurants, bars, shops and lively night life, is less than 15 minutes, by car, from the villa. The beach, with its white, powdery sands, is approximately seven kilometers long and attracts young travellers and families alike.
Wat Plai Laem and the famous Big Buddha are within less than 5 minute drive from the villa. The Big Buddha, Samui's most popular tourist attraction, is often the first landmark seen when arriving by air. Big Buddha Temple (known locally as Wat Prha Yai), features a 12-metres tall, seated, golden Buddha statue located at the top of a staircase decorated with colorful dragons. In the courtyard housing the temple, you will find clothing and souvenir shops as well as food stalls and small restaurants along the water's edge.
Big Buddha Beach, a quiet beach, stretches for more than two kilometers. The beach is long and the sand is fine, the water not too deep and safe for children. The rocky point at the eastern end offers some interesting spots for snorkeling and rock walking. There are several piers used by ferries and speedboats taking passengers to Koh Phangan, famous for its Full Moon party. The main road that runs alongside the beach is lined with bars and restaurants.
Wat Plai Laem, a Buddhist temple compound, features a striking white 18-arm image of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Wat Plai Laem offers visitors a view into Chinese-Thai beliefs as well as some elaborate Buddhist-themed art and architecture.
This is a relatively new temple but the art techniques used in its creation are centuries old and based on ancient beliefs. Adding to its feel of tranquility, the temple is surrounded by a lake teeming with fish. Visitors who make a donation to the temple are given a bag of food to feed the fish.
There is so much to do in and around Koh Samui. Take a boat trip and visit some of the surrounding islands like Koh Tao. This small island north of Koh Samui has become a magnet for those who really want to get away from it all, and for divers who come to explore the vast coral beds. Since the main attraction is diving the beaches remain tranquil and pristine.
Koh Phangan, 20 kilometers north of Koh Samui is a tranquil and relatively undeveloped island with white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and invigorating landscapes. There is an abundance of wildlife from monkeys to birds of paradise and an amazing underwater world surrounding the island. Angthong Marine Park is an archipelago wonderland consisting of 42 islands offering a stunning view of limestone massifs, lush rainforests, and long white sand beaches.
Angthong park is a protected area of more than 100 square kilometers of land and sea, and home to a rich variety of exotic wildlife and sea creatures. Snorkeling, hiking, sea kayaking, diving, sailing and simply relaxing on one of its idyllic beaches are the main activities to enjoy here. Visit Koh Mae (Mother Island) with its stunning beach and beautiful Talay Nai “Emerald Lagoon”, a saltwater emerald green lake surrounded by the island. A day trip island hopping is a must!
With so much available close by, the villa is wonderfully located where you can enjoy the peacefulness away from the crowds.
Please note that the fourth bedroom is a self contained bedroom located in the main building. Perfect for teenagers or friends wanting some privacy.
